Rules & Regulations
Scoring System
- A match consists of the best of 3 games of 21 points.
- Every time there is a serve – there is a point scored.
- The side winning a rally adds a point to its score.
- At 20 all, the side which gains a 2 point lead first, wins that game.
- At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point, wins that game.
- The side winning a game serves first in the next game.
Interval & Change of Ends
- When the leading score reaches 11 points, players have a 60 second interval.
- A 2 minute interval between each game is allowed.
- In the third game, players change ends when the leading score reaches 11 points.
- The game will be conducted according to the rules of BFI (Basketball Federation of India). However, rules may be changed according to the local needs and situations.
- The entire team will consist of 8 (5+3 sub) players.
- The size of the Ball should be 7
- The tournament will be organized on a league cum knock-out basis.

Team Composition: Each team typically consists of five players on the court at a time.

Game Duration: Basketball games are divided into quarters, usually lasting 12 minutes each at the professional level. In some leagues or levels, shorter quarters may be used.

Scoring: Points are scored by shooting the ball through the opponent’s basket. A field goal inside the three-point line counts as two points, while a shot from beyond the three-point line earns three points. Free throws are worth one point each.

Game Start: The game begins with a jump ball at center court. The team that wins the jump ball gains the initial possession.

Possession and Shot Clock: Teams have a limited shot clock (usually 24 seconds) to attempt a shot. Failure to shoot within this time results in a turnover, giving the opposing team possession.

Fouls: Personal fouls are called for illegal physical contact. Accumulating a certain number of team fouls in a quarter leads to free throws for the opposing team.

Free Throws: Players awarded free throws after a foul attempt to score from the free-throw line. The number of free throws depends on the nature of the foul.

Substitutions: Coaches can substitute players during stoppages in play.

Timeouts: Teams are allowed a certain number of timeouts per game to strategize and rest players.

Overtime: If the score is tied at the end of regulation, overtime periods are played to determine the winner.
The match referee’s decision is final.
Each team has to report at least 30 minutes before their scheduled match. If a team does not reach the venue within 15 minutes after the scheduled time, a walk-over will be awarded to the opponent team.
